Yes. Instead of talking about how we’re getting a Marvel movie with no white dudes in it, let’s talk about how the women’s faces look the same.

lmao, whatchu mean no white dudes?

Fred is a fictional character from Marvel Comics.
Fictional character biography
Nicknamed Fredzilla, it is revealed that he is Ainu in origin and spent time growing up on a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. base in Japan.
The Ainu (Japanese: アイヌ?), also called Aynu, Aino (アイノ?), and in historical texts Ezo (蝦夷?), are an indigenous people of Japan (Hokkaido) and Russia (Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands).

Historically, they spoke Ainu and related varieties, though today very few can do so. Most of those who identify themselves as Ainu still live in this same region, though the exact number of living Ainu is unknown. This is due to confusion over mixed heritages and to ethnic issues in Japan resulting in those with Ainu backgrounds hiding their identities. Intermarriage with Japanese has blurred the concept of a pure Ainu ethnic group.[5] Official estimates of the population are of around 25,000, while the unofficial number is upward of 200,000 people.

jhenne-bean, TYL that Big Hero 6 doesn’t have any white dudes in it.

look, even if we operate on a technical reach and declare Disney’s Fredzilla as Ainu, the character design is still a visually fumbled, whitewashed mess:

That’s not exactly grounds to celebrate on. So yes, I think OP’s argument -this one, the others- are perfectly valid.

OP is complaining about the same face thing (which plagues almost every non-live action medium); I was pointing out something that I see as a good thing.
Ultimately, it’s up to the viewer how jaded they are about Disney’s practices. It’s not going to greatly effect me; I’m still going to see it and I’m still going to love it, if their recent track record continues. Though, seeing a Japanese lead is certainly going to be as much of a thrill as seeing the black noblity was in Frozen. Is Disney doing great on representation? no. Are they doing better than before? yes. I for one am super excited to take my niece to see Spirited. But this is a Disney Princess blog. What would you expect?
